Hit

Also called a page hit. The retrieval of any item, like a page or a graphic, from a Web server.

Geographic Imaging

A computer application used to store, view, and analyze geographical information, especially maps.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

That allows users to copy files between their local system and any system they can reach on the network.

Domain

A group of computers and devices on a network that are administered as a unit with common rules and procedures. Within the Internet, domains are defined by the IP Address.

Digital Certificate

A data file that is issued by a Certification Authority to an individual or organisation to identify them to online services.

Cookie

A short line of text that a web site puts on your computer's hard drive when you access the website.

Client

A client is an application or system that accesses a remote service on another computer system, known as a server, by way of a network.

ActiveX

ActiveX is a framework for defining reusable software components that perform a particular function or a set of functions in Microsoft Windows in a way that is independent of the programming language used to implement them.
